    Best Method for Cutting Fibreglass?

    Anyone got any thoughts?

As I'm in the cutting mood I thought I might cut out a couple of air holes in the front spoiler for more brake and oil cooler air flow.....

    Something like this.

    Maybe a Dremel or similar?

      Cam,

I use an oscillating cutter like they use to remove plaster casts in hospital. I used it to trim my fiberglass guards and cutting off the rear wing on one side and my battery box.

I them bought a really cheap black and decker fine belt sander. The belt is about 10mm wide and protrudes out the front. It looks like a minny chainsaw, and this gets the shape right.

        Hi Tim,

which brand oscillating cutter are you using and are you happy with it, also if it is an air driven one, how big an aircompressor is required?

        thanks

          john,

I'm not at home for a week so I will check when I return. It's a german brand! Its electric, and one of the best tools I have ever bought. Beautiful neat cuts and doesn't heat up panels.

I've used a reciprocating saw, with a fine blade. For such a small a job couldn't you use a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade?

This is the tool I use for most of my cutting. It's called a Fein multi tool. Cuts steel and wood can be used to scape off sound deadening, and is a sander.

No heat or warping in the panels and its a very narrow cut. Its an oscillating cut the same as when you have a plaster cut off a broken arm.

The blade in the photo is broken. User error!! It still works fine.

Sorry I was a bit slow getting the photos up.

Nope not yet, work has been keeping me off the streets.

I finally put the thing back together and went for my first fang in about a month on Sat.

Waiting on a few things to arrive in the post as well..
