    Ignition coil earth strap

Anyone know the correct gauge wire for the ignition coil earth strap? Mine is black, and so non-original, and annoys me whenever I pop the engine lid... it's amazing what 7 weeks of lockdown will do to your brain.

Well i was curious and so I found it's part 901 612 099 00, which you can buy ok. But can't see what actual gauge wire it is.

Yeah, I know a few folks sell them, but shipping a $5 item with $40 shipping is crazy for a piece of wire and two lugs... I can crimp and heat-shrink no problem.

Just out of interest I went out and measured my 72 one..... 3.6mm OD. Much thicker than I thought. I guess the core would be about 2.5mm- maybe a little more. Heatshrink like the one in your photo but mine has 3 coils.

Cool, thanks Bill - I'll just buy some 4mm single core. Narva have some that should do the job. But now.. two coils or three...

The Narva brown is a bit dark, but at least it's more brown than the current black. Will do for the moment. Just waiting on my lugs from 911HighVoltage now.

Ended up not using the Narva wire.. got some that's much better. Good quality crimp terminals and heat shrink and job done. I have metres of this wire if anyone needs one made up.
