I attended the Alt Gruppe event in Sydney yesterday

I have to say it was great.

Open to aircooled cars its a welcoming relaxed gathering, with some nice cars in attendence, in a caldersac in industrial Mascot (near the airport)

I also found the fact that a 911R (991) turned up and was asked to park up the street a little bit very amusing. And to the owners great credit - he did just that. Hats off sir!

The organisers are telling me an Alt Gruppe event in Melbourne is in their future, and I have offered to help with that when the time comes.

I have to thank my friend Nick Taylor for loaning me a 2.4E Coupe for the morning - a lovely car purchased in NZ a few years ago with one of the nicest 2.7RS spec motors Ive ever had the pleasure to drive. It was in raucous good health.

Some more pics. The olive 912 was lovely and was the late Jeff Carter’s ( famous Australian photographer) second Porsche. He went on to own 2.7 Carrera, 3.0 Carrera, Kremer Porsche and a 3.2 Carrera Clubsport.

His pictures are in many art galleries, and he freelanced writing for Wheels.

There is an entertsaining book he wrote - from the Alice to the Arctic, and a funny pic of him in this 912 with the gearlever being held in gear with string and two old fashioned farm irons.
