    1973 Window frames

    Hi all

My 1973 is about to go off and be dipped and am wondering whetehr it is worth trying to save the window frames?

Can these be polished? or are they chromed?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

    1. You need to disassemble completely and remove all threaded pieces as anodise stripping will destroy anything you leave behind

2 Take to Melbourne Anodizing to remove the anodizing

3 You need a mirror finish via a polisher, no scratching of any sort or any level, the polishing is critical to end result. Good luck finding a polisher.

    4. Take back to Melbourne Anodizing in Clayton to be anodised in bright anodising.= and pray your polisher did an awesome job.

    5. Reassemble

    6. Re insatall

    Quite task and not cheap

        Hi Adam,

Yes but cheaper and easier to buy new front and rear windscreen surrounds.

Thanks - best fit from Porsche Classic or another supplier?

Yes not too expensive at all from Porsche Melbourne less than $300 all up including the 2 smaller joiners as well. A word of warning they will come warped and you need an experienced Porsche windscreen fitter to wrestle them into shape and best if you use your old windscreen rubber too.
