    A$ dollar plunge

    Hi everyone,

I dont need to remind everyone about whats happening to the poor old Aussie $ lately, but what are the implications with respect to new and used Porsche prices (and parts prices ?).

It will be interesting to see how soon Porsche make price changes wiht teh A$ - euro rate now around 0.47 whereas a few weeks ago it was 0.58

and it's a pity - a month ago with the aud at just below parity, and the US suffering... parts and cars would have looked quite attractive...

pity the person who hasn't paid for their car in USD yet...

I confess to having spent up big on stuff from the US when the going was good

I think those times are gone for a while now......

i think a bigger issue is that the cars are now worth a fraction of what they were 3-6 months ago.

Relative to the USD, AUD has dropped better than 30%. It'll be interesting to see whether car values will drop that (or more). I would think Porsche will react very quickly with a price increase.

We've just been informed by 4 suppliers of price increases ranging from 8-12% due to currency issues and increased transport costs.

it's interesting how price rises occur immediately and reductions happen rarely if not months later.... One of my pet hates!

Dollar recovered well today, now above US$0.70 and eur. 0.51

What a roller coaster ride. Talking to forex dealers today, they have no idea where its all headed.

It will end, it always does Richard but some get swept away by the tide.

Like surfing the trick is to know which wave to paddle hardest for

I have taken advantage of the falling Aussie by placing my RS on the market at $300kUS

Based on the enquiry rate from around the world in just 2 days not everyone has lost their lollies yet! Time will tell if interest turns into a purchase however.

Rory at CTS will be consigning the car here in Aust at $425k if any one has some spare change they want to get rid of
