    Photos from 356 Parade

It was a wonderful display of 356's and Typ901's at today's 356 Parade- a credit to the 356 Register. We had about 30 TYP 901's on display (not all members) and I guess a hundred or so 356's - including the first RHD built and delivered to Australia, owned by Ian Henderson (with body resto done by our own Jason Carroll - Chequered Flag) and a lovely Carrera 2 owned by Stewart Webster and lovingly polished by the hired help, Alexander.

Names to faces - Sonya/Alex/Brett and Andrew/Clyde/Dave/Phil - the Melbourne weather so nice today that all were wearing sunnies - Brett wearing them because he's rather unattractive.
Cameron - this is what 901's are designed for, showing off on a sunny Melbourne day, not racing around the country-side in SA

right - better make sure Sonya does not find those pics!!!

Great day, so good to see so many 356's and 901's there. Great weather, even if I did get a little burnt! Driving the roadster back home with the hood down was a great way to end the day.

2 golds for the Webster crew, so we were very happy. Hendo's car was magnificent, a sentimental favourite. Maybe next year for the car of show eh!!

Some trivia for the bored - did you know the two spilt screens A's in that 2nd photo were the first two RHD 356's ever made and that was the first time they were "reunited" since birth....

Great day! Joyce - if you joined, thanks for the pics of your original 912.

Really must make an effort to get down there again... the last time I took the green car down was 2002 (or 2003).

Might see if I can rope a few of the Sydney - siders in.

                      + 1 .
however that is conditional on having a little more than two dollars to rub together after Monterey !!

                      Cheers,

OK, here's an idea for 2009.

I am contemplating approaching Wayne Hevey (356 Prez) and seeing if we can have a more formal association with the Annual 356 Parade day. It seems the costs keep getting higher for the 356 guys (hence them charging us parking fees) so perhaps its time we look at having our own TYP 901 Concours event, potentially attached to the 356 day.

Naturally there would be a charge involved to participants but 356 charge only $50 and this includes major googie bags (incl 5 L of the good Castrol oil).

This year we had nearly 30 early 911's and 912's on display and I think if we had a couple of categories like Show 'n Shine, Full concours etc, we could get quite a few entries.

I ma very conscious that teh 356 Register wants to maintin its ownership of this event but it would make good financial sense to ammortize the days costs over 2 clubs cars and members- providing the 356 register agrees after we make a formal approach.

What do members think ? (Clyde, I know you are itching for more trophies, so you dont have to reply. BTW, I have you down as a judge).

In discussions with a few members so far, I have good support for this.

And before anyone asks, we dont plan to ahve our own separate event, its too costly and getting a date at Como Park can be difficult. Many other car clubs use this venue for similar days.

                          Phil, great idea. I'll definitely support the event. If it gets the nod, I guess Jason will be busier than ;

I think this would be a great idea. Should also run it past Frazer Carless as he has a lot to do with these event's.

Also, the club produces a quarterly magazine which is economically inefficient to produce. Perhaps something combined could be done here as well? All a bit of fun!
