Very early RHD 911 ex UK

Did anyone see the thread on the Early 911S Registry re the 65 slate grey RHD 911 in the UK? It looks like a beautiful car. $US33K. Dont know about you guys but I reckon the interior of the pre67 cars are quite marvellous - the timber, green lettered intruments with chrome bezels, 356 sort of feel.

It is the one in Peter Morgans book, which is a very nice touch.

Someone buy it!!!! Go on Clyde - it looks like Phil is one up on you in the numbers game at the moment!

but I also saw a post from someone claiming to be a former owner who sold it in 2004 saying that it was not all it was made up to be condition wise and would need 20,000 (I think USD) spent on it in the next couple of years :shock:

I immediately thought of a RUST problem given the time frame, cost and other work claimed to have been done on it but it might also be a complete engine rebuild for that amount as well :cry:

Just goes to show - you shouldn't buy on the Internet...

to me it looks used and with a nice patina....

to someone else - $30K needs to be spent....

is that so its safe and usable and fun or so its a pristine concours car you'd be afraid to use?

Having said that I'm pleased my car spent all its life in OZ.

The Poms get very annoyed when we remind them the earliest known rhd 911's are in the colonies...

No i could not see a chassis number - It is not REALLY LOW though as this is what the ad says in part

"The car has an interesting history in that it was one of the first consignment of five RHD cars to be brought to the UK by Porsche Cars GB. It was manufactured in July 1965 and was finished in Slate Grey with Red Letherette. It was delivered to the UK on August 15th, with the first owner taking delivery of the car on 16th March 1966. The car is the original Porsche 901 specification which was only manufactured between September 1964 (Launch) until late '65."

It is pictured in the Morgan book and described as the 5th car to be imported to the UK

I always have considered EARLY cars to be those made up till about Feb 1965 this is July 65 after a couple of thousand cars were made!
