    Gearbox linkage

I seem to have developed a new problem when shifting gears

Shifting from 3rd to 4th results in a shift into 2nd. This still occurs with the shifter fully right before pushing forward.

Also selecting reverse has also become unreliable with it often going in to 2nd.

Would this be likely due to tired bushings or poor linkage adjustment? Or other?

I cant find I good link on fixing this here or on early s. Is there a good thread out there?

    Thanks

Sounds like the coupler has let go... Pop the hatch on the tunnel at the back and see if the shift rod is coupled correctly to the gearbox shift input shaft.

It will have either become loose, or the bushes are completely shagged... it's all easily fixed though.
