    Tyres

For those seeking a good high performance road 15" tyre at a very good price I have just replaced my rear pair of Pirelli P6000s ( 195x60x15) -VR rated -for $165 each through the local Goodyear Tyre Centre .
I rate the P6000 highly --I'm on my 2nd set on my 1977 911 -- they are softish so have plenty of grip --wet and dry but reasonably hard wearing and they are great value .They are also easy to source .

John, I have some sets of these tyres which are one of the few decent brands left available in our size requirement.

I am sure Carl Jones might chime in and ask if they are chinese made Pirellis or euro ones. I think mine are made in China and were cheap.

    Seem to be OK though.

You guys may recall I'd recently been asking about tyres. Would these be suitable for 6x15' fuchs on a standard 912 (street use only) ? Any advice ?

Yes, these tyres will fit your 6" rims well. You can squeeze on 205 s but I think the 195 s are more correct and give the period look you may be after.

Next job is to find some as not everyone carries these Pirellis

          Matt,

I'm running Yokohama C drive - very happy with them.

Grip well, wear well and are reasonably priced (about $165 a tyre from memory). 205/60's fit on my swb 1968 911L with no hint of rubbing.

This is the second set of yokies I've had, so I'm satisfied. and as I know a Bob Jane franchisee fairly well... he always looks after me.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated !!! Phil's correct, I am wanting the period look so suspect I'll do better with 185 or 195's. Will contact Bob Jane & see what options I can find....I notice that the standard size is 185 but everyone seems to fit 195 or 205. Is there something wrong with the 185's......ha ha

Update for you. Pirelli have stopped making the P6000s last year. I have them too and bought a couple spare last week (195/65/15 91Vs for $150each)...but i had to ring around to a lot of places to get them. He sold 'em cheaper as he only had two left anyway.

The new Pirelli is the P6...but the tread is heaps different. Also I'd like the pseudo authentic look of the the P6000s on our cars.

So if you want some, get in whilst the dealers have some old stock (but check the date code to make sure they are not too old).

does anyone know anything about the new (newish) P7's that are available in 195/65 -15 H or V rated according to their website

that size is almost an exact match (rolling radius) for the original 185/70's

OK, after Thredbo, this thread has a different perspective!

I am running Yokohama Advans 205/60/15... and despite Advans being unadvisable for snow work, i am still in love with the levels of grip they provide.

does anyone know where to get them (there seems to be different types - Clyde and I are both running Advans, but they have different codes on the sidewall)?

                  anyone know how much?

anyone know someone trustworthy to put them onto Fuchs (as the last guy didn't have a clue!)?

                  cheers

Guys, I'm going to look into the BFGoodrich G-Force Sport as they do a 15" in a variety of profiles including 50, 55 and 60. http://www.bfgoodrich.com.au/index.p...assenger&id=29

The Americans seem quite happy with them also (a few mentions on Pelican). I intend to run separate track tyres and rims...

just got a quote for Advans... $312 each!

I think the P6000 are looking good assuming I can find a set.

                        Hi guys,

In preparing the car for Thredbo I purchased a set of Pirelli P6's in 195/65R15H from Jax Tyres for $134 each.

They were excellent on road in ALL conditions and quieter than the Michelins they replaced.

For the 2.4 I was keen to retain an original look and close to original rolling diameter, they are symetrical in design.

                          craig

                          that is good to hear

i have been looking at those as a possible replacement for my michelins

did you look at the P7's in the same size
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with experience of those as they look - on paper - to be better than the P6's and only about $150 each

                              Hugh,
i liked the symetrical design/ tread pattern of the P6, think it looks better on the wheel?
                              richard
P6000 NLA, P6 is symetrical, P7 asymetrical and more appropriate for modern cars.
