    Spring plate bushes

Removed the spring plates and torsion bars this arvo and used an oscillating multi tool to remove the old rubber bushes, it worked really well taking about 45mins to completely remove the rubber, no burning, gotta be good for oc/health and safety

"cough" I had to burn mine off "cough"

Nice job, are you re-plating or powder coating them? Mine are at the powder coater at the moment getting a nice satin black refresh. "cough" :p

I think I will take them in today to get them plated, I will need to spend some time on the brake backing plates first as they are pretty corroded.

Black paint correct for 73 or earlier, plating for 74 on I believe.

I think Satin Black is the correct colour.

Tony black paint rubs off in my experience....

These are later spring plates not originally found on early cars. They are much better because they can be adjusted. With adjustment comes paint removal process. I think that's why they went to plated.

Andrew, you're right about the paint wearing off i don't know what porsche used in 1969 but it's adhesion qualities are amazing.

I thought about 2 pac, but decided that the powder coat route would have more longevity.

I have painted and powder coated in the past but have never had adjustables.

Powder coat is fine except edges can be vulnerable and satin black is the correct or closest to original

Thanks Clyde, yeah after deliberating a fair bit i decided the Satin powder coat was the way to go for my entire suspension, both for looks and longevity.

These are semi gloss powder coat I was always sorry I didn't do them in satin
as it was too shiny, but was very durable.

Spring plates are back, i dont think you would want to try to make money from electroplating as they charged me $25 for this lot, a little bit up on the $15 for the front suspension bits. Not sure if it has something to do with the "Oh yeah i remember yours are the vee dub bits". The sun finally came out here in Adelaide and I was able to get some colour on some of the repaired sections, might update one of my earlier posts with pics, its not Fishcop level but still might have interest for some.
