The advantage of a good PPI

Rich and others looking for an early 911
If you want to see a graphic example of why you must get a reputable and thorough PPI before purchasing an early 911, and not rely on photos, check out this thread on the 'Early 911S Registry" message board from new French member '911SWTarga"

    Ouch!

That's a corker of a reason to get a PPI (or even TWO!).

thats been a thread I have followed with interest for some time now. The buyer unfortunately trusted the guys description of the car and paid way too much for it. But he's stuck with it now no matter how hard he complains.

        OK

Whilst on PPI's... who are the REALLY cluey people to do them in Melbourne???

(Particularly when trying to quantify potential body issues  ).

Are body issues and mechanical issues best handled by specialists in each?

The top of my list for mechanical inspection is George Cairns in Ferntree Gully (9758 5610)
Body - Mike Tankard, Jason Carroll or David Belford

            Rich,
also consider who you are going to use to work on your car in the long run. If you get a PPI done by one person then take it for servicing to another, there will obviously be differences of opinions on the condition of the car.
If your future mechanic does the PPI, well then he better do it thoroughly because you'll be on he's back when during a service he rings you and says, "Oh by the way, I just found this wrong and its just tripled the bill."
If he has done the PPI properly and knows he is going to be looking after the car, there's less chance of this happening.

            Good Luck

Thanks, that's a very good point which I might have to consider earlier rather than later...

The first thing I am going to do is get the car to Mike Tankard... (spoke to him earlier). Think it is the only way to get a grip on the rust issue... then we can worry about the proper PPI.

              Cheers
