    Replacement seatbelts

    Hi,
I'm looking to replace the standard 3point retractable belts on my car. Is there an Australian supplier? I also need the central floor buckle and metal seat mount.

    It's for these seats http://www.vintageseats.com/products/r-seat

I'm also thinking about an Autoflug 4 point harness. Any thoughts?

    Thanks, Jason

      Hi Clyde,
Yes they do, although I like the idea of floor mounting on both sides if possible. I think I've found some 3point belts that should do. Michael arrives on Thursday, so I'll have a much better idea then.
      Cheers, Jason

Klippan K6254 (retractable) is suitable for early 911. 170mm rigid centre stalk is perfect. Approx $150/set of 2 from Bursons.

We have discussed local seatbelts before a few times.
Go to www.hemco.com.au who can build custom belts for you and do a lot of resto stuff but use new webbing wtc.

Are retractors compulsory in Australia for road cars?

No. But the belts must be ADR complianced/approved and tagged (Dave's seatbelts would fail a roadworthy unfortunately). It also means using a lot of race legal belts would also make the car technically illegal...

Most coppers would use common sense, however it's the mermaids you have to make happy...

Interesting. The main thing that the police and QT wanted to check on my Cobra was the seat belts. I would have loved a full harness especially on an open car.

Nothing wrong with having harnesses in the car... I have a full harness in my car as well as a retractable lap-sash (Klippan). As goofy as it sounds, you can wear the harness and throw the lap-sash over the top and be perfectly legal.

Years ago when when I wore the blue, I confess I spent short amount of time as traffic cop (needed to do it as part of my motorcycle training for another role). I recall the thing we looked for on seat belts was fraying and the silk ADR tag or sticker on the retract.

Glad you've reformed John. I seem to recall that there are retractable harnesses nowadays?

To ride solos in the particular unit I was a member of required me to get a departmental bike licence... had to do the course and road time. I'm still a complete reprobate...

Hemco would be a good contact to have something custom made up - they can certify their products and comply with the ADRs.
