Hi, am i right in saying a 69 dash has that shape of speaker holes, but it is a one piece dash?

Where is Clyde when you need him eh ? He can answer this one as I believe only 72 and 73 had the removeable speaker cover but dont quote me.

I know these dashes and saw them in Essen. They are made in Italy but the distribution is closely controlled. Will let you all know if I manage to get some at a "reasonable" price. But dont expect to pay $500 because the tooling costs to ge these made was very high.

I have heard that The Dash Doctor in Melbourne has now virtually doubled his price to re-skin a dash so like it our not, prices are moving up for everything.

This is one of the results of increasing car prices - everyone wants a piece of the action.....

            Thanks!

            Cheers,

                dash

Mmmm, mine's one piece, with holes of an area that look close to that shown in photo - but hey nothing else on it was original!

From what I remember Clyde telling me, I think you are correct on that.

                    Julian,

very likely its been re-skinned and holes re punched into the new skin. But who knows on these old cars ??

Many things can have changed and many owners thought they were doing the right thing maintaining the car.

The 68 has a two piece dash and the speaker section can be removed in separate section. Without 'screen removal.

How does this compare with the marek offering?

                            Here I am Phil

ONly one perosn makes all the dashes sold by many retailers

Read again all made in same place period end of story!

LHD are around $1500 landed or maybe a bit more now

                            RHD is close to $3000.

I have a LHD one in my 72ST

I have a RHD one for my 69S Resto

Speaker grill is removeable in all years from 69-75 and some 76

69 is a different shape to all others which are the same

69 also held in place by 4 metal clips not the pin arrangement of others

I think that answers all the questions

Dash doctor does a fair job you lose all the definition in the step though
and insist on the material he doesn't want to use as its a better match to original.

Drove on the Bolivian salt flats yesterday doing 160kph in a Nissan Patrol with luggage and 6 passengers and got passed regularly!!!!

Good place for next Porsche run, run sheet very easy, start here drive straight and flat out for 150km then turn around and come back.

By then car should have rusted away.

Ring Darren at Phil Hearns, he is doing a lot of the stuff from Europe, got my RHD dash from him, the one Nick saw in Sydney.
