    Securing a Spare Tire

    Hi Guys

Currently the spare in my car sits on top of the fuel tank un-secured, which is something I’ve never been overly comfortable with. I would like to rectify this by (re) installing whatever system was originally used by the factory. Can anybody shed any light on how this was done and where the anchor point(s) were?

    Thanks

what you have is correct - the wheel just sits there kinda wedged into the recess in the fuel tank.

if you want to fix it more securely i would add a ratchet style strap over the top or, if you want to be ye olde style, maybe a loop of leather belt?

Ryan just beat me to the punch, and I agree with him. It wouldn't be difficult to fabricate a simple tie down strap as he suggested - if your design is good you may have a market !!

        Thanks for the responses guys.

Think I may make up a small bracket which will attach to the fuel tank mount and use that as the support for a strap to hold the wheel down. If any good I’ll let you know.
