I am about to remove my petrol tank to check and replace rubber connections

    Good opportunity to respray

I would appreciate any advice where to obtain the correct colour codes for the tank so I can have the paint mixed

    Thanks

What model car Simon? The early cars are satin black (as is the rest of the trunk area). Later cars (71??) moved to a dusting of body colour and a grey 'schutz' layer on the tank. The schutz is a Wurth product but it's changed in composition since the early 70s and turns a little beige over time.

There are few threads I've read on this in the Early S Registry and the consensus is that there isn't a definite code for the grey... Some people use grey paint to freshen up the tank. I used Upol Gravitex in grey which to my eye comes up very similar in texture and colour to the Wurth grey.
