    Crossing to the DARK SIDE

    Hi all,

I have to admit , at the risk of excommunication, I have gone over to the Dark Side.

I am emulating Ryan's experience and have now acquired a 1978 930 Turbo as my daily driver. It was time for a change and I didnt need to have multiple 4 door cars in the family so the Benz wagon stays (its practical) and the BMW 535i is up for sale. (anyone interested - it needs a good home).

The 930 appeared at my mechanics one day along with 3 other 930's and Phil mentioned it was for sale. I drove it and couldnt believe it was such a driveable car for everyday use. Of course when those pesky SS Commodores etc start to become troublesome, well, just select 3500 RPM and c-u-later.

Congratulations on the new acquisition Phil – great looking car!

As far as moving over to the dark side is concerned – just make sure you maintain at least 3 to 1 ratio of early to later P-cars and all should be fine.

Is it OK if I operate on a 50/50 ratio Paul?

Nice looking wheels Phil, I saw that car at Phils when Richard was doing his alternator work but wasn't aware at the time that this was the car you had been talking about. That retro, cool, blue coloured interior will go well with your grey hair.

Thanks for the grey hair comment Clyde ! I figured that other younger drivers think its some old guy living out his P car fanatasy !! Little do they know.....

Drove it to work this morning:

            930: 1, SS Commodore: 0

You’re exempt Clyde, given the revolving door on your garage, who could ever work out you’re car ownership day to day!

Now Phil, it is one thing to go try and sell Pcars and Pcar products, but, (I am SHOUTING here), IT IS COMPLETELY, UTTERLY AND UNACCEPTABLY ANOTHER THING FOR THE TYP901 PREZ TO BE SEEN IN ANYTHING BUT A LONGHOOD P-CAR.

You are herewith ordered to go and rinse your mouth out, say 50 Hail Mary's, smack your backside 100 times a la John Cleese, and spend the entire weekend in a state of self-flagellation and spiritual purification.

BTW when I am next in Melbourne would it be possible to go for a ride in said 930 please?

                    Hi Chris,

yes the 930 was an unexpected acquisition, but after driving it, I figured this could work for every day, plus give some real excitement when required.

I hope your Colorado meet is successful. Its coming up soon isnt it ?

How is the weather over there at present ?

                      Hi Phil,

Yes the Tour de Colorado is coming up soon...about 2 weeks from now.
Our weather has been warmer than usual (90 deg F. plus) which is hot for
7000 ft elev. July usually ushers in the "monsoons" which gives us afternoon
rains & thunderstorms, cooling things off a bit. The last few days they have
kicked in. We need the rain, so no one is complaining !

For our event we have cars coming from CA, AZ, TX. The turn out is smaller
at this point than anticipated, but thats OK for the 1st time. It will be fun
to hang out & talk/drive early cars with everyone.
I'll post pics on Pelican/Early S after the meet.

                      Enjoy the BOOST

Hey Chris, I look forward to seeing the pics.

And yes, boost is addictive. My 9 yr old son already loves it. His favourite Porsche is now a Turbo. So much for TYP901 loyalty ?

Congrats on the purchase Phil!! Awesome car...

Ryan still has a go at me for 'thrashing' his turbo... but that boost is sooo addictive!!!!

In Ryan's defence, he was trying to follow me and we had just left Surry Hills (he never leaves surry hills). :p
