    Exhaust drone

so... i put the monty from mark munro's car onto my car - wanting a two-out exhaust that was a bit louder.

little did i know that that two out's have a bad rep for creating drone at certain revs.

didn't bug me so much at first... but must be getting old, as decided i needed to do something about it. wasn't so much the spirited club runs, more the tootling about town that it was annoying me. 60kph was smack in the middle of the drone-zone!

anyway, rather than bin the exhaust or sell it to someone else to have the same issue, thought I'd try a different solution.

bought myself some of these http://www.carchemistry.com/3-disk-i...-1-2-diameter/

quick run around the block and drone seems much less noticeable... will need to get the car out for a decent drive, but signs are good that it's solved the problem!!!!

Yep. That's why I quite like the 3-outlet 'rallye' unit I have. The two underskirt outlets stay capped most of the time. Though I did take them out this weekend for Cars and Coffee just to make an entry

      Would capping work here or
More to do with what's inside the box or rather not?

Anyone have exp with the Monty 2in- out that have both outlets on the ends?

I wasn't there for your entry John, but I did like the exit. They sound great. I have been pretty happy with my 2in/1out Monty - thus far.

yeah, i would have thought capping would work - just need to change the resonance point... but would look a bit odd i think?

Steel wool up my Cobra side pipes helped for the inspection ...

yeah, the CC inserts can have steel wool put in between the disks for more sound suppression.

except wasn't really the loudness that bugged me, it was the drone...

Hey Richard, how did these work for you?
Have you had a test run yet?
Only asking as the old man has modified his exhaust on his 914, and it's bloody loud.
He wants to calm it down a little.
                          Interested to hear your thoughts.

I took it for a drive yesterday... From inside the shed to outside the shed...

Not really adequate to test out the sound... Will let you know as soon as I have done a proper test.

Maybe don't get into top gear ,at that speed range, all will drone if it loads up and the rpm is to low, let it rev Richard
