They are a lovely looking car and Dino’s have been climbing in value a bit, but they have always been considered the ‘poor mans’ Ferrari. They had massive rust problems with Russian high carbon steel used in the Italian car industry at that time, and they were never really on the collectors' list. This one looks like a racer and could be a bit clunky and tired as a consequence, and the low price. Stick with the Porsche Jim!

Always been a favorite - having driven 912's as my first Porsche, I'd happily wear the poor man taunt all over again

Surprised it didn't sell for more

Merv almost sounds like a textbook description of a pre galv 911

It does indeed. However Jim's 65 is free of that and is far more collectable. I think the racing background would have dented the price. My Ferrari expert mate says that they are forever out of tune and have very high mechanical and maintenance costs - even for a Ferrari.

I don't mind a poor man's Ferrari, or the stigma that comes with it. Definitely can't do rich man's Ferrari though and definitely can't do a Mondail, that $#!* is just a little too poor. eegh.

Yeah I like them too. But I've listened to the experts... It's not ownership that hurts apparently, but the constant maintenance and fettling that often means you're not out driving!

A bargain if you can afford the maintenance, but the least collectable Ferrari. A Lamborghini Urraco would float my boat though.

As long as the rust doesn't take it away first ...

When it comes down to how many hours a year you drive verse maintenance it makes sense.
                            Anyone driven a Dino?
Probably a raw clunky beast at a guess.
