    Tyre pressures

I have read the threads but wondering what Street tyre pressures do you use?

    I'm running 205/65 R15, Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 at 39psi all round.

It is interesting that there is almost 10psi difference here, so far.

26 and 30 on the road.

If my driving is to be spirited then up by 2 lbs.

I have my 185x70 Avons at 30 front and 34 rear, sometimes adding 2 pounds all around - ie if going for a long highway trip or if it is very wet

they are slightly high but that opens up the quite narrow drain channels in the Avons for wet conditions

Ah, you Lwb guys just love blowing up your tyres to compensate for that extra wheelbase.:p

Mine also are 185 70s with standard suspension. So far there seems to be more from front than rear, and either side of the 30 mark. Which is what my 68 manual says. I was thinking that with modern radials it could well be different

Not that many responses on this but there is some consensus. Modern radials are reported to have a stiffer sidewall than those of the 60's, so the recommendations of the old manuals about radials, could be different. These cars are very sensitive to tyre pressure in steering and handling. I think I am going to stay with 30F and 32 R as I do mostly highway driving.

On another thread I had asked about the correct tubeless valve stems and why some - most - of the 415s don't fit.

Here are the ones kindly sent by Carl and the ones I had found that I could buy. The ones that fit, from Carl, are on the L. As can be seen they are slightly narrower in the stem and a bit less 'conical'.

My car came back with 32 front and 35 rear.
185/65/15 on front and 205/60/15 rear.
It was a hard ride around town as a daily so have dropped it down to 28 front and 30 rear.

that's hard on Sydney roads - I see why you dropped it back Ben. 28 and 30/31 will be fine for around town.

I remember driving my L around after a supersprint and really noticed it on some of the older more course and bumpy surfaces....

Where are you located in Sydney at the moment?

My pressures make the ride a bit hard but I prefer it that way and I find it soft and comfortable in comparison with the Q5 with lower profile tires which are 36 psi all around

                            Justin,
I'm in the eastern subs, which has some shocking surfaces ... it's like Autocross dodging the potholes on the way to work and back, which I guess keeps it interesting!
