    Dry Ice blasting

We sent the 73S Targa to Kane Hearn for the dry ice blasting treatment

He sent back some pics showing little bits he had tackled. Its slow and expensive but works a treat gets rid of everything except the original paint and the car will look unbelievable underneath once he is finished.

Car has a lot of over spray from its paint job from many years ago and soon that will all be gone.

Gees look at all the toothbrushes I could have saved over the years if this was possible years ago

Yes I had Kane do work on my 993 and Ferrari 360 wiht the dry ice blaster. Had a few goes myself to see how well it works. Will post some pics of how well it cleaned up the suspension saving hours (no, days) of dismantling work.

I was about to look into it for a FJ40 i'm restoring.

Exactly how slow and how expensive are we talking?

          Very and very

Bottom of car could be up to 10 hrs to do properly and price is in excess of $200 per hour allowing for the fact the machine has been hired

          Fabulous results though

            Thanks Clyde,

Does sound expensive, but I guess it's all relative to the vehicle it's being applied to.

Love to see more pics of the end result.

            Ben.

I can confirm results are pretty amazing compared to all the work required to strip and car and get the same result. Might appear expensive until you try doing it the traditional way, plus you simply cannot achieve the same results any other way if you want to preserve the original finish underneath.

Yes its expensive and slow but compared to the alternative..........

We spent about 3-4 hrs on my F360 suspension which achieved great results and removed lots of dirt and surface corrosion from it being a UK car and having aluminum bits underneath. All plastics come up like new and any overspray of after market sound deadener comes off without leaving a trace it was ever there.

I believe Kane may purchase a complete system eventually rather than hiring it and will offer the service.

After attempting to clean the wheel arches of my targa with a high pressure cleaner and achieving a very average result, I decided to take my targa for a dry ice blast at Kane Hearns'. So far very happy with the result.

Yes it does a great job of cleaning while retaining the original surface with no damage

                    I love it

Agree! I'm very surprised none of the original coating has come off.

Peter, your cars looks great after the blasting. the front wheel arch goes to show just how it gets back to the original finish and doesnt damage it. The floor also cam up great with all those years of dirt and grime removed.

The cost is definitely worth it. No other process will get you to this, even a box full of toothbrushes wont do it .

                            Very good..... outstanding in fact.

But not much benefit if you have a swb and its all black underneath

The car is Signal Yellow, it has had a respray in its lifetime, so that's why the color contrast is so visible, it seems they have given it more than a light mist in the wheel wells.

I've just had updated photos sent by Kane of the finished product.
