Expanding Bait was in the old days used when people sometimes used explosives to try to catch fish and as I held an explosives license for many years, I got landed with the rather dubious honour of being called an expanding bait user.
I am told though that explosives not all that good.Comment

Ha ha, I used to "fish" this way as a kid... A mate had a carp problem in the farm dams. Some XXX in glass jar with some XXX and screw the lid down - the carp come floating to top.
Ironically I grew up to be a fisheries inspector and an explosives inspector amongst other jobs
