    Fuel and Water

After having my fuel tank restored I was told it was a good idea to drop some mentholated spirits into a fresh tank of fuel every few months. The reasoning is that the metho acts as an emulsifying agent, allowing any water that has formed in the tank to mix with the fuel and be burnt out through the combustion process.

In principal this all makes sense, though before going down this path I’d want plenty of reassurance that this was not going to cause damage. Has anyone heard of this / done this before? Also, with the detergents (that would also act in the same manner) that are added to premium these days is it necessary?

This is an old bushies trick when buying fuel from petrol stations with low volume. I heard it being used lots in old landrovers and landcrusiers ...havent heard before for a 911 though.
