    Gearlever "springing"

I've just tidied up the bits and pieces of my gearshift. It's a 4 speed sporto with the early style shifter with similar action to 901/911.

I've set it up with spring resistance against pushing to the left for the Reverse and Park plane in Sporto (equivalent to R-1 in 901/11).

I now have no springing between the 4 forward gears ie no spring in either plane (ie L-D or D3-D4 in the Sporto, equivalent to 2-3 and 4-5 in 901/11).

Do people set them up with some mild resistance so there's a level of Spring resistance pushing it to the right (D3-D4 in the Sporto, 4-5 in a 901/11?).

    Hope my question makes sense!

I don't think that there should be any resistance in 1-4. (There isn't in mine.) I read somewhere- that I conveniently can't find- that you set it up so that 1st is just touching the spring plate and the others should sort themselves out.

How did you get on with the vacuum pressure?
