If anyone has a 65-73 with an after market wheel and steering column play, pull the wheel and take a look where the split ring bushing is. It should be on top of spring, but on mine it was under spring. Apparently it's a really common mistake. It was causing a small amount to play. Once swapped around all play completely gone.
