Shipping a car (shell with parts) from Newcastle

I need to move a car from Newcastle to Melbourne. Rolling shell with lots of parts in boxes. No windows. Not waterproof.

Any thoughts on the best way to get it here? Does anyone have a recommended contact?

Not much help, but knowing the bigger transport companies policy for non driving cars and also loose items, it would cost you more than bringing in a car from the U.S.

    Definitely shop around.

I sold a Datsun Roadster to a guy in NSW and it sounded to be in a similar disassembled state. The purchaser sourced a guy with a tray local to me in Kilmore and paid him for the round trip . Talk to some locals in Newcastle starting with smaller transport g companies and locals involved in restos etc.

Similar issues with my disassembled 68. The cost I was being quoted prompted me to go a BUY a trailer and go get myself :/

Uhaul do pretty reasonable rates on a one-way trailer rental if you have a tow capable car and the time for a road trip... It's probably the only way you'll have control over the move.

I did find a guy on gumtree who specialises in these sorts of jobs and runs only when he has a truck-full quota of 'project' cars (which can take a month). He's set up to winch all non-runners (but they must roll/steer/handbrake. The assortment of parts becomes an issue for them as most people don't pack and secure ancillaries properly and everything gets damaged. Vehicles are open to elements too which can be an issue.

If you can load the car onto a car trailer an have it all ready, some furniture removal companies can 'backload' the car behind their trucks heading south.

"Rusty cars and wrecks" Facebook page. Just put up a post and let the offers roll in. A friend just used it for a car with parts inside from Newcastle to Sunny Coast.

I have not had much luck in the past which resulted in hiring a uhaul trailer to Melbourne although it was cheaper to drag it down empty rather than a one way hire.

Try the the Aussieveedubbers forum from memory there is a thread on transport and there are often guys picking cars up and travelling with empty trailers.

                  Thanks gents.
-Rustynuts page on Facebook is defunct now.
-Uhaul - have nothing available at the moment. They suggested approximately $400.
Seems like a waste to drag an empty trailer all the way up there IMO.

Any other suggestions are most welcome (closed vehicle transport options etc).

Craig - did i ever tell you you're a top bloke!

Just one final comment Roland. If there is a hoard of valuable loose bits i would get it quick and probably do it myself. Surprising what can disapppear and people on this forum can attest to that. Nev

                              Hi Roland

Did anyone ask what you bought? Porsche? Lotus?

                              Cheers
