    Rubber positioning

What you may be thinking - we all know the answer to!

However, my question relates to the hood seal & whether the rubber should sit underneath or over the top of the metal grill cover air intake.

As you can see, the top of the back section of the rubber is higher than the bottom of the metal air grill.

I removed this part and the heater & air ducts etc 3 months ago when I needed to refurbished dials, repair clock, repair relay for the radio/cig lighter, and now I cant remember.

Can someone help me please either from memory or photo.

    cheers

My seal sits over the top of the grill, so the jury's still out I guess.

I think out is probably factory correct.

This afternoon I replaced the grille with the top of the rubber tucked in and the grille didn't seem to fit snugly against the body.

I didn't have the rubber fitting properly.

When I did, having the top edge of the rubber UNDERNEATH the bottom of the grille seems to fit OK - so OK and "innery"!

Yes Mark that is the same as mine, much neater and held in place.

Just checked my 68 Mark. As I'm packing for a road trip it would have been bad form not to check!

                    It's tucked underneath the grille

Mines out. That way when you wash the car that is where you find water to sponge out ...

Mines just like yours in post #8. Rear part of rubber being held in place by the grille

I can get any water out easily when I wash the car.

                            Air filter

I also added a piece of proper black air filter material (10mm width) behind the grille wire mesh to add a bit of air filtration to keep crap from ending up in the air box.

You can see it in this photo.

It is meant to be over the grille....never seen an original car with it tucked under.
