    911R gets paint !

here are the pics taken today of the R project car as it emerged form the booth in its new Gulf colours.

I am pleased I went for this colour combo, although there are enough other cars around in these colours, most are LWB cars and I feel the final look will do justice to the 911R I am replicating.

It was interesting this morning, going thru all the boxes to find the bits Jason needed to start re-assembling the car, like door handles, rubbers, plexiglass rear screen and qtr windows. Finally all the years of searching and hoarding parts means they get to be bolted in become a complete car again.

Its amazing he difference clean paint makes from the dull old primered body and daggy looking interior.

The aim is to have the car ready for the Phillip Is Historics, but thats not far away.

If only I was at this stage .....

Phil I can only look at your photos and wish I could fast track to be where you guys are. Post Christmas I'll commence on mine, work has already begun on dismanleing. Fingers crossed time, but it looks like most of the mechanicals are good and I'm yet to have word from the panel beater on the rest. Lots of panels, new f/glass bumper, 2 front guards, probably 2 rear, doors OK though. Might be a good time to change colour, silver perhaps ? Its also popped out a bit of rust, so I think its back to a bare metal and solving a few other niggleing problems, wiring at the least.

Well done on your project guys, perhaps in March I'll be posting similar ones. What is the corrrect interior black finish, matte ??

I also congratulate Jason in getting the work done so promptly.

many of us have experienced extended delays in getting work done on cars but when you conside this car only went over there in September, and a lot of extra work such as replacment torque tube and restraightening a front rail had to be done, its very pleasing to see the car at this stage. makes me want to use up all the Christmas holidays to finish it off.

                      Updated pics

here are some more pics of the R project car now with stickers and glass fitted. Starting to look like the real thing now.

However, with a full wiring loom to be built, and all mechanicals to be fitted, Phillip Island is looking doubtful.

                        Phil

That certainly looks nice - i am sure it'll be even better in the flesh!
Makes me want to get a compressor into the garage and go over my car!!

If the wiring isn't done by PI, maybe we can take your car down there along with Erwin's... and just push them around the track!! :-)

                        Cheers

                            Nice, real nice.
