I'm with Chris. The characters in both stampings look odd to me too....anyone else?

Chassis looked OK to me had the spaces in between the 3rd 4th and 5th numbers as it should has been painted over though, stars exist at each end I will stick my neck out and say its original.

Engine number is what it is, its a built up race motor, you could stamp xxx on it and it would make no difference to its value in my opinion
