Nice one Clyde......I/we'd be interested in your experienced/educated thoughts on the feel of driving this one vs a '73 Carrera.....

        Thats a good ask.

I need to get the stupid dunlop sport tyres off the car first as they really affect how heavy the steering feels and the bloody thing bounces along the road they feel so hard.

My lasting impression of RS #197 is one of effortless and no fuss power and a hard to describe "light" feel/touch.

This car seems to have the power band it should so I too will be interested in how it feels with the Avons with 185/70/15 fronts and 215/60/15 rears on 7" and 8" wheels.

If it gets close its a win

          It'll be like e.g. 90% close @ 15% cost.....that's the killer equation....

Used to be 15% of the cost getting cloer to 30%

A touring RS and a G series Carrera coupe are supposed to weigh the same, they have the same engine so they shouldn't feel too different all things being equal.

Let me get the car back to original and I will report back

Yes I got them from a local supplier Traction Tyres in Rowville

Had to wait a little for the 4th one as there was no stock Australia wide but they were being fitted today so be good to see the different stance and how the car handles

I hate the Dunlops that are on it great for the track but hard as rocks on the street

Should be able to report back tomorrow having the whole front end checked while I am at it so should be super duper by mid afternoon

I don't like the 55/50 series tyres on these early cars just don't look right in my opinion factory spec gives the best look and these Avons are factory spec for both 6/7 and 7/8 wheel combos

Hopefully the back isn't down too far for the taller tyres.

John is it a case of just trying something different, or are you not happy with the TB's?

Love the TBs But their current price is about $3500 landed and fitted to my wheels... The Avons work out to be about $1k cheaper.

Avons rock. They grip like a cat on carpet. Really good in the qld thunderstorms as well. Which was a massive surprise to me.
I would not hesitate to buy another set.
