Finished the hubs this week - hydro blasted and part polished.

New (period correct) rego purchased, JG 450 (Julie Gould) - original rego JS 548

Jeff, I've been referred to a motorcycle engineer who can fabricate a new muffler exactly the same as original - steel & chromed (& possibly engraving as shown on attached photo of de-chromed original) for around $300. His business is manufacturing old bike mufflers - and other old bike bits which are no longer available.

Won't be long now before it all starts getting re-assembled :p

      Update.
It's a "rolling chassis" now. Some engine covers and levers went off for polishing today. Good news, the engine is one of the last of the 450 singles made, which were a big improvement from the previous engines...so I'm told.
Should be finished in a month or so.

                  Looking good Peter!

I'll be interested in seeing the repro muffler and contact details when it's done.

                  Cheers

A couple of shots of the new muffler next to the original. The bracket was removed from the original and welded to the new one and the internals are "modern" - baffle packed with fibreglass. Also the shape is slightly different where it reduces in diameter and it weighs about twice the original

But for $290 including chroming I'm not complaining.
