Great weekend at Euroa Show & Shine. About 200 bikes and 1200 cars on show.
      Julie's 450 won "Best Restoration".
Here she is late in the day showing a few bikers how to kick start a Duke - the chap with the blue shirt and black cap owns the maroon '53 BSA in the photo (which won best British bike) and he doesn't think chromed crash bars are cool.
Also phoning home with the news after loading it back on the trailer for the trip home.
"Best Bike in Show" was the red 750 MV Augusta . I'm not sure what year is (edit: it's early '70's and is valued at around $90,000), but it was frame no. 002 (001 was a factory prototype) - and it certainly drew a crowd when the owner removed the exhaust baffles and fired it up - Awesome!!

Great weekend, great weather and some fantastic cars. Next year it will be known as the National Show & Shine, Euroa - and it would be great to get a few early 901's along.

It's on again this weekend and it's now called the National Show and Shine , Euroa. They're expecting up to 2000 cars and 300 bikes and a few tractors.
Organisers have requested we again enter the Ducati as they're having a large indoor bike display featuring BMW, Ducati and many old English bikes.

The weather forecast looks good, so if you have some spare time on Sunday take a 2hr run up the Hume and see some magnificent machinery.

PS It's bigger and better than Motor Classica IMHO.

Peter, how did you go at the show with the Duke?

I was on Citylink yesterday morning and saw heaps of cars and bikes obviosuly heading to Euroa. There were 4 old guys riding some WWII vintage Harleys, which I hoped made it to the show. But we all know about Harleys.....

It was the 10th year for the Euroa Show & Shine (now named the Australian National Show & Shine, Euroa) and once again a fabulous and very successful car and bike show - despite the 3" of rain that fell on Euroa over the 4 days leading up to the event. Fortunately the weather was perfect on the day, despite being a little wet under foot.

............and how did Julie go I hear you say? The Duke was again fortunate to win an award (last year we won Best Restoration), this year we won Best European Bike which included a number of Ducatis, BMWs an MV Augusta and a nice 1958 Gilera (the red bike beside the Duke), which won the award last year.

The 1914 Indian won "Bike of the Show" - and deservedly so.

                      Well done!

Peter, I see an old poster behind the bike, is that yours or does it belong to the bike next door? If yours, what is it? where did it come from etc? always looking for this sort of stuff.

BTW, does the bike ever get ridden?

                      cheers

                        Jeff

Rode the bike to and from the show - but must admit it rarely gets a run.
I've ordered and am awaiting the delivery of some new period correct Avons (Speedmaster 2 for the front and Universal for the rear). After they're fitted we'll ride it more and show it less :p
The poster on the wall belongs to the owner of the Gilera (and many other bikes), Steve McKernan, who is an avid collector of such memorabilia and features a BSA Goldstar like the one in the attached photo (which BTW won Best British Bike) and a rather attractive female model. I was told that the model is actually a former girl friend of Steve's mother. Steve only discovered this after collecting the poster and showing it to his mother. How's that for co-incidence.

Peter, you are going to need a trophy cabinet soon, although by the look of the trophies, not a very large one.
