Yes we are safe and well. The fire started to the south of Upwey and moved in an easterly direction. We're to the north, so this time we were very fortunate not to be affected.
I believe it was deliberately lit.
Our policy is stay and fight - I left work when I heard of the fire and arrived home at about 5pm. Julie and Rob had already put our fire plan into action and everything was well and truly watered around the house, all windows and curtains closed, pump attached to tank and buckets and mops around the house to put out embers - and the keys in KYJ - just in case.
The reports this morning are that the fire is contained, however, Friday will be another bad day, so I'll be staying home for the day.

If you want to shift KYJ to the garage in Rowville space is available till the danger is over and you can take the keys with you!!!!

Just heard that the "Upwey" fire may have been started by a tractor slashing grass - on a day of total fie ban!! If true, a severe penalty should apply
