    Anodising Recommendation

I've had to do some weld repairs on my window frames which has required the original anodising to be removed in a lot of areas. They are also fairly scuffed up so require a full sand back and re polish.
Has anyone got a recommendation for a good anodising company or other suggestions for getting a durable good looking finish?

    Thanks,

    Paul.

Did you try that faux stainless powder coat?
The sample looked good enough but they always do.

      Hi Paul,

Assuming you're in VIC, a member here recommended Melbourne Anodising to me, but I haven't tried them - maybe someone else on here has?

Could be a better option as heard that anodising doesn't work well on welded areas.

I had one of the frames powdercoated as a trial but was not happy with the result. I think I could get a better colour and finish with paint. Also mucked around with polishing which comes up nicely but will oxidise unless I protect it by anodising or clear coat paint.

Polish and then spray a clear coat over Paul?

Melbourne Anodising are a bit hit and miss but think it comes done to the prep of the frames if they are polished and flawless chances are you will geta decent reult

King of Trim in USA are the go to place but you guessed it expensive and quite a wait time.

I've used them, and the frames came up well. They have a polisher, which I used as it stops them blaming each other Someone else can chime in but I was under the impression that a welded area would not provide a consistent finish?

I've used Collins Anodic in Blackburn for anodising lots of Yacht parts, including recently a custom tiller handle that had to have a plate welded in for reinforcement. They do a lot of auto stuff and will be who I send my Brembo callipers to shortly. Really know their stuff.

QLD nameplate in Salisbury used to do good work but I haven't used them for years.

Not sure about the polish and clearcoat approach, I tried this with the decklid Porsche script on my '65 but after polishing it has a much different hue to the anodised colour, I have put it on the back burner for now.

                          Hi Paul

I agonised over all this stuff too. In the end, the best result I had was to polish and simply maintain it with a bit of mothers metal polish every 6 months - it really isn't too much effort to keep them looking nice. For my green car, I will be experimenting with some powdercoats. I saw some nice effects recently using a "chrome" powder on some high end custom bikes.

                          Anodise highlights welded repairs...

If I was doing a no-holds resto, I'd probably source a solid pair in the States and put them through Kevin Jeanette (Gunnar Racing).

Harvey Weidman will ONLY do the rough RSR finish on wheels he has had to weld cracks on...that pretty much says it all.
