LHD, has C seats, is "not completely rusted out", wrong exhaust, earlier model fuel pump, but looks solid otherwise and could be good project car but "reserve is not met" ...

That's a high reserve, hence no bids. No worth the money IMHO.

Soundness of body is the important part of any 356

Everything else is relatively trivial - and can be fixed. You just need to factor the cost into your "what am I prepared to pay for it" equation.

Then drive it and enjoy it.

Yes Justin it is listed as a 51 build. With no synchro on all gears they can be tricky to drive, but that dash is a thing of beauty. If the advertised 356 is as described body wise and has a working motor is could be on the current money.

I don't think they would come much rarer than this..... passed in @ $150K

Plus expensive asbestos checks for many cars if you buy from the USA. I followed a '59 356A up the steep range today towards Montville. Chris why is this one so rare? It was Australian delivered of course, but there were more A's than B's sold here.

Big $ unit. I have not been to look at it lately but there is a specialist restorer on the Mornington Peninsula who found in SA more than 20 years ago a 356 that competed in a GrandPrix at Nuremberg. I believe it is around that era and is a Carrera. It is a taking part in a painstaking rotisserie restoration.

Big US$'s. There are some other interesting P car results there as well. We are all on the lookout for that rare car.

                        And another one http://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/196...le-roadster-2/

I forgot to mention he has a blown up photo in his workshop with the actual car on the start line at Nuremberg. i believe he was or may still be a member of TYP901.
