Was looking for one when I bought my 911L...... but there were none!

They had all been converted to 911's, became donors cars or were butchered.

We also have my late fathers 356 which he bought new in June 1961 - so I understand the appeal of 356's and 912's....

Many of the 356 guys refer to 912's as 356D's as they were the ultimate development of the early Porsche 4 cylinder road models...

So you are preaching to the converted here Ed!

Well said Ed. I well recall my first drive in a Lotus 7 in 1969. I was a very young guy from the Deep North living in Melbourne and was amazed with its power. It blew every car on Doncaster Rd away at the lights. And Justin, I love the 356 D!

I have been looking for the 912 database on this site. Where is it?

E9's have become rare beasts at the moment John - far more P cars on the open market at the mo.

          Cheers

I believe so, previously advertised as a bit of a hot rod.

                  Hi Adam

Not 12 months ago there were 6 available on the market my brother was considering - all under $60k I tried in vain to get him to pull the trigger on one. He balked on an early 911 when they were cheap, and he's missed the boat on a reasonably priced E9 now too

I consider the E9 the perfect "Dad's sportscar" as you can still bring the family within reason... The 911 is small kids only.

Looks like it could be easily turned back to original spec.

Yes, my kids are living proof of that. They don't mind riding in the back of the E9, but really dislike the back of the 911.
While my E9 continues to be out of action for rust repairs/body repairs/engine work/retrim, I really love driving it because it is SO different to the 911. It also helps that my E9 is an automatic, so is a great around town (read CBD and inner city) car.

The Papal Inquisition could devise no seat less comfortable.
