Sorry I was daydreaming about factory safari wheels, my 912 is August 1967 and has an extra soft vinyl insert fitted on top of the dash that probably was added in Kenya but see your screws below:

Thanks to everyone for your input.

At the moment my newly covered dash is being held down by the 2 front studs (near the windscreen) without any of the 5 chrome screws. It seems very solid with only a tiny (2-3mm) of "lifting" on the front leading edge next to the passenger A pillar. I think it looks nicer w/o the screws so I can live with that.

Next Covid job: Do I attempt a repair of original but slightly saggy sun visors?

Found these today in a book with old motor magazines reviews back when cars were new.

Yes Sean - and both with chrome screws.

btw: made a taped off "paint booth" inside the 912 and repainted the black headliner correct ivory.

Used SEM vinyl "Phantom White" - 4 coats. Fantastic result - better than I hoped for. Key was in the taping off.

My 68 912 dash has three chrome screws facing the driver/passenger, like the photos.

Must be the time of the year for this.
                  I've just done this today.

Sean - looks a nice finish - did the Leatherique work well - would you recommend it?

I want to change colour of garnish rails from red leather to black. Here is a pic of the "new" ivory headliner IMG_3289.jpeg

That hoodlining looks fantastic. Thanks for posting up the brand and colour vinyl spray.
Leatherique worked a treat, good product that goes a long way.
Give me a buzz Mark if you want to know more?

While going through my draw found a few factory driver manuals.
ln this edition the left hand drive cars had no screws and right hand did.
screw guy was working at the factory .

Yeah - the screw was working & the dash sheet metal guys saved time on cut-outs!
