For sure Merv. I've got a brand new heat gun just for the job!

Well, to close this off, I managed to get the dissy out this afternoon. I've hardly been home the last few weeks, but when I was, I would squirt Penetrene around the base of the distributor. No idea if it helped. However, Tony lent me his two jaw puller, which I clamped on with a 90mm hose clamp. I screwed a long threaded rod through the puller, and made a slide hammer out of it using a couple of nuts and some square steel tubing. After running the engine for a while, I managed a couple of good whacks on the sliding tube, and the distributor released. Surprisingly, the O-ring is still very supple. I have a feeling it may have been a bit of corrosion on the dissy that caused the problem. Anyway, happy days here. We can get on with tuning it properly now.
