    Cams Kombi Project

It would appear I have too much time on my hands! Actually after selling a house on a reasonably large block with a lot of lawn and gardens to maintain, I am now in a townhouse with a lot more time on my hands.

So when this Kombi came up at the right price I couldn't resist! Just a little bit of rust repair to be done I suspect I might learn some new skills along the way!

Even in that condition a Splitty looks way cool.

However, appears it could be quite a cost & patience "safari."

                I admire your bravery.

Love the splitty!!. Good luck with the build. You'll be amazed how many people wave at you when your driving a combi. Friend of mine used to have one, It was like everybody on the road saw him as a good friend driving by and would wave out the window at him.

Thanks Guys! The buy cost was so low it justifies throwing some $$ at repairs, the plan is to keep it pretty stock at this stage. I have a line on another wreck for some additional bits - mainly roof sections but the guy wants about 5 times the $$ this one cost me!

Jeff I have done a welding course and have some vague skill with a mig!

Yes I must say the splitty I share custody of with my sister gets more thumbs up and happy reactions than any other car I've ever driven

                        Oh its not at home

Its in a friend of a friends shed about 50k's out of Darwin at the moment. Adds to the challenge....I did 200+ k's last weekend for about 7 hrs work.

I'm in commercial real estate and do you reckon I can find a little hobby shed to rent for the right bucks?!

                          Cam

I'm pleased to see an effort to save another one. I have very fond memories of a road trip to Perth and back (from SE QLD) in a 56 model in my late teens.

A car I should have kept, 1800 engine, 356 wheels and brakes, great fun!

                          cheers
