      Correct Bill.

In photo 1 - The listing cord loops through these hooks on both sides of the seat base; then up through the seat box springs & foam (or coconut fibre).

However, the issue I have is attaching the underside of the seat cover to the listing cord holding down the springs/seat cushion (foam or coconut). There is a lack of knowledge as to how Recaro did this in the 1950's & 60's for Porsche.

Below -here below is the most likely way it was done but is it correct? I

      1. Stitch severaI lines of button twine across the underside of the 5 seat cover pleats.

      2. Then hog ring the twine sewn to the seat cover to the listing cord. Alternatively, sew the button twine to the listing cord to get a closer fit.

I have tried it on my old covers and it does work quite well.

The hardest part is getting the right amount of compression on the springs/seat foam. Still investigating.

The Porsche seat covers that I have used and also the ones I had made recently for my KG already have a pocket sewn in for a draw cord to tension that part of the seat base down appropriately.

I just had a look at my reply yesterday on my phone and it doesn't show the first photo that I posted..... Recaro used the hog rings to tie the cotton wadding directly to the jute.

(For some unknown reason I can see the pic on my PC buy not my phone. Just checked, I can now see this on my phone too.....)

Anyone have any idea why my photo, above, disappeared?

Marcus, I tried to look up the name of the company, but it was a few years ago, it was a USA company, only because they were the only one I found that offered a Horizontal inertia mechanism and aircraft style hardware, which I needed for the '65.

Thanks Bill, your photo seems to solve the mystery of how they got the seat cover attached to the listing cord (without putting a hole in the cover) & thus have it held down as well as the pads & springs to create the seat fold.

Hi Mark, I tried to post the photo in my post on the 21st but it got rejected ..... The seat bottom pic on the same post got accepted.

Just an updated pic of the interior (Scott, you've seen these already). Car is back at Atlas to start the re-assembly, but Eastcoast (obviously) still have some interior work to do... although Mr 13 did comment "I like the leg room Dad..!"

Of note are the new retractable front seat belts (PE Parts in the US) - bolted straight in without any hassle.

Hopefully it won’t matter in your state but here in SA if you fit belts they have to have Australian standards label stitched in, and they won’t accept a US safety label.
