They have priced the car now, $185,000.
Kilometres 46,222
VIN 9111300524
This 1971 Porsche 911 2.2 S Coupe was delivered on the 12th Jan 1971 to its first Australian owner who opted at the time for 'tourist delivery' (this means the order is placed in Australia and they take delivery directly from Porsche in Germany) in this case it was driven to Italy, in fact 3 days after delivery and 854 miles later they were in Rome and the first stamp shows this.
Specified in Light Ivory with Black leather in basketweave pattern this Australian RHD spec car also was optioned with rear wiper, chrome fender, strips, fog lights, Phillips Radio Cassette, tinted glass, electric sun roof and electric windows - a very high spec car and expensive at the time.
Kept by the looks of it in Rome by the owner for approx. 12 months the car then came to Australia where it has been in long term ownership and has been cared for and pampered all its life and the superb originality is all there to see.
It has been repainted at some time in its life but all the rare leather basketweave trim is in place and in fact the interior is superb and the car has a lovely feel that is so often lost in a restored car.
These very rare original RHD S model Porsches are now firmly in the investment grade bracket with the rare 2.7 RS models now, well over $500k. In fact some of the Porsche purists consider the 2.2 S to have, the sweeter and faster revving engine with a better power delivery than the 2.4, all I can say is that it is wonderful to drive, so smooth and powerful and that razor sharp steering feeding back all the information from the road surface, with the howling flat six pushing you along it's a great sensory experience that cannot fail to get you excited.
It's expensive but one thing is certain they are only going one way in value and that's not down!
The car comes with all its original delivery books including radio manual, roof car brochure and service book in its original wallet - very nice indeed!
