Congrats, Mark. Blue with brown and Pepita would a cool combination - if you choose to go back down that path.

It was indeed a Peter Hayes car. There are some invoices from his "Race Ace" business in the books.
How did you know it was a Peter Hayes car?
It was delivered to Melbourne on the 30th of July 1969.
It sounds like I will need to post a photo of the struts for you to look at / identify. There is also a spare set of struts in the collection of spares I received. Not 100% sure but the struts on the car appear to have a little strengthening triangle welded on to them. Possibly a racing mod?Mark Branson

Congratulations,
great looking car - and I for one think i would leave it as it is.Last edited by patrick911; 29-07-15, 11:23 AM. Reason: discovered model year 1969 is from august 1968 till june/july 1969 - wasn't paying attention

Thanks for all the well wishes, nice to be among the faithful!
Well the work began this weekend on what will probably be the worlds slowest build thread.
In order to get the ST SA registered I need to go for a vehicle identity check and in order to try and not raise eyebrows I need to:
Lift the ride height
Make it quieter
Remove the roll cage (not allowed a front cage here)
Remove race seats
Etc, etc
So this weekends job was to start removing the cage. Can only remove the front at this stage as the harness is connected to the back section and that can't come out until I have new seats and belts. One thing leads to another as you know.Attached FilesMark Branson
