Bit of a front clean up today got a surprise to see the nice alloy space saver with correct date and has factory fittings for an 85 litre tank not mentioned in options so following that up...currently has a 74 and later fuel tank.
Got rid of the strut bar today looks much betterClyde Boyer

the australian cars i have seen that came with cookies (E's in particular) came with a steel spacesaver as mine did. I believe that at least some cars that came with fuchs wheels including some RS's may have had fuchs spacesavers
however i am a bit surprised that this car, a UK delivered car, would have had a plastic tank as at the time these were not legal in the UK and as far as I know no RS's delivered to the UK had a plastic tank so i woiuld be surprised if any other car would have had oneHugh Hodges

Think the track history and hot rod motor may have put a few off but this car is far more preserved than many other road cars I have seen
All good for me.
I also got an early Xmas present today.
The other exciting news is that the original motor has been located with the help of our board sponsor, Jason Carroll from Chequered Flag (thanks Jason) and today I took the car to a workshop where another car will arrive tomorrow and after some health checks are carried out 2 heart/lung (read engine/gearbox) transplants will occur.
I get the E back to numbers matching and the other gentleman gets their 69T to go like a rocket ship and has a valuable asset (911/83 motor from an Aussie 74 Carrera) to sell down the track.
I would say its a giant win/win all aroundLast edited by Terminator; 21-10-15, 05:43 PM.Clyde Boyer

Did you have an inkling that the motor was still around!
And to think it was in Melbourne as well
Yes Jason alerted me prior to purchase during a discussion we were having over the red S race car at The Healey Factory. he did a lot of leg work for me in getting the owner to make contact so I am indebted to him.
Only after reaching agreement with the current owner of the motor did I proceed with the purchase.
Now to see if the transplants can be done smoothly at not at too great an expense to me, as I am footing the billClyde Boyer
