All new cars are wired this way so that in a crash you don't have fuel being sprayed around causing a fire risk. In most cases (before modern engine management systems) the ignition signal from the coil is used to trigger a relay which in turn is connected to the fuel pump relay. The oil pressure switch can also be used which is also a good engine protection device. Well worth having and should be easy for any auto elec to set up.

    cheers

don't you love when you run a mechanical fuel pump - on a 356!

i have learned that these are a pretty simple electronic device - common to taxi's and lpg vehicles. they pick up the tacho feed and isolate the fuel pump in the absence of a signal.

my mechanic has just ordered 4!

one more thing that can go wrong - i hate electrics...

          Hi Ryan,
That sounds like the answer. Any possibility of posting the name or details of the "pretty simple electronic device"? Like you, auto electrics is not my strong suit.
          Thanks.
          Regards,

Part is commonly called a tachometric relay.

The steely fetish has struck, not sure about the grey, maybe should have been lighter colour?

mmmmm..... not sure. I like the fuchs on your car jappy! Maybe it needs a Porsche script to make it look better - not sure.

                    Like the wheels though.

Jappy show us a picture that perhaps has some sun!

Otherwise from what I can see I think it's great. Looks very period hot rod! Perhaps a dunlop sticker or something to help confirm the race look.

YOU are right Tiger, it needs some stickers! Though Group S hate stickers... they will have to come off before Phillip Island!

I think the period Porsche script down the side will tie it in nicely.
