    Refurbishing Comfort Seats

I have recently installed the comfort seats ( or should I say discomfort seats )

They seem to be very unsupportive and sag all over

Has anyone had any success in fitting the new springs from Design 911

Any other suggestions to refurbish would be greatly appreciated

In the meantime I have to say they are the worst seats I've encountered

My Healey 100/4 seats are far better ( Dont mean to stir up a hornets nest )

I have some replacement seat pads that may help.

Original comfort seats are universally known as being very average in the comfort department.

Phil can sell you some very nice repro seats that are a big improvement.....

Unless strict originality is your only creed; a seat change is one of the very 'permissible' changes the anoraks allow...

There are a large range of options, but they all pretty much rely on stoning up coin

          Thanks for feedback

Based on the few comments I should have posted this thread first

Wish I had've sat in them first before stumping up a fortune for a seat of 73 seats out of the States - I could not recommend these seats to anyone!

Agree that a set of seats from Phil would have been a much better ( and more economical ) decision

Does anyone in Melbourne have the LeMans style seat in their 911 that I could sit in - Im in Balwyn

          Cheers

I have some excellent early 911 comfort seats, but Phil's are better. After a long drive they are as good as my 997 seats.

FAP911 (I struggle with screen names ...) I got mine from another well known member who had them in his car. My understanding is they were redone in Melbourne. The springs are all very good (too good) and the runners and so on perfect. However, they are bouncy and with no side support detract from the enjoyment of the drive IMHO. I keep them as they have the pepita panels and I have some pace to store them for now.

No really, give up on them. You think they're bad now wait until you try and sit on them during a spirited drive.

Had my comfort seats re-built / covered years ago and immediately put them in storage in preference for some of Phil's seats which I also recommend.

I've also got Phil's 'Nurburgring' (non folding) seats - If you're not using the back seats much they're a perfect seat for daily driving and even some track work when you use a harness. You also add about 40kg of lightness

I don't know what your budget is like, but I couldn't restore my comfort seats for the price of the new Nurburgrings... and that sealed it for me.
